Wood Beam Ceiling
You have a few options that could add interest to any ceiling depending on the size of the beam.

Sometimes a wood veneer, such as oak or birch, or faux decorative painting for high ceiling beams can be applied along all three sides of the exposed beam.
Depending on the position of the beam, you could carry on the theme by adding 2-3 more false beams that are equally spaced.

Make a "U" channel with three mitred pieces of wood to make a beam.
Take a 2 x 4, insert it into the “U” channel and attach it to the fake beam and ceiling.
